How the Hybrid Power Plant Works

Before knowing how the hybrid plants work, we should know the meaning of it. Kunaifi(2010) said that the hybrid power plant is a system electric generation integrated, from two or more power plants with different sources. The hybrid power plant is very economical and technical. Usually, it uses an energy source that is widely available in nature such as wind, sunlight and the natural resources that can be renewed.
The source of electrical energy that has being applied today still used the materials that can’t be renewed. There are many of remote areas that still have not being able enjoying the electricity. The used of hybrid energy at the power plant can be applied if the source of energy used has been exhausted someday, then it can use a hybrid energy as an alternative energy and also as a replacement of the depleted energy. Therefore, remote areas such as in coastal areas can enjoy electricity.
Some tools that needed to hybrid power plant used like windmill which serves to change the energy wind to be electricity. Then, a dynamo to change the motion energy of windmill to electricity. The inverter serves as the component that change the DC current into AC. Batteries as a storage of electrical energy from windmill and solar cells. The solar cells change the energy of sunlight into electricity. Generator as the supplier of power back up when the weather is bad and not supportive. The last is the burden, here it is the house who needs electricity. And the materials need sunlight and wind.
In this text, the combine of the electrical energy derived from the wind using windmills and sunlight through the solar cells. The main process or idea of windmill is to convert the energy from the wind into electrical energy. While, the main process of the solar cells according to Handjoko and Satwiko(2012), is to utilize the theory of light as particles of energy with specific wavelength and frequency. The solar cells are using the device of semiconductor which has a large surface and consists of a series of diode type p and n. So, the light can be converted into electrical energy.
This hybrid power plant works systematically. First, we must assemble all the tools to be used. Then, when the wind blows, the blades of the windmill move to rotate the dynamo which generated electric current which will be channeled towards storage in the form of a battery. Then at the same time, the sunlight captured by the solar cells in converted into electrical energy. Electricity coming from solar cells, windmills and batteries is still in the form of DC current. To streamed it into people's house should be in the AC current. Therefore, it requires the inverter to change DC into AC current. Some of electrical energy that has been altered will be flowed to people's house. There are stored in generator. So, that when the weather is not good or there are interferences, we are still able to enjoy electricity.
